KINAESTHETICIANS DEVELOPS THE SKILLS OF A MULTIFACETED PHYSICAL PERFORMER
Kinaestheticians is an association founded in 2015. The aim of the association is to advance embodied consciousness in the society, support the development of dance and theatre as art forms, further the collaboration between different art forms and the dialogue between art and science in Finland as well as internationally.
In August 2017 Kinaestheticians launches a training programme of physical performing skills. The training programme is designed to give practical physical tools to develop individual, multifaceted, elegant, enjoyable, virtuosic and strongly present performance skills. People interested in movement, but who are not professionals in the field of performing arts, are also welcome to participate.
The training programme is based on workshops given by international master teachers organised twice annually. The topics of the workshops include SPIRAL POWER, ENERGY CIRCULATION, FORCE AND COUNTERFORCE, AND EMBODIED IMAGINATION. Each workshop is followed by eight weekly training sessions that further the themes of the workshops through the master teachers’ exercises and the practical applications suggested by the participants. Continuous and disciplined weekly group training facilitates deep understanding and practical application of the learned skills.
We started with investigating the power of spirals with martial art master teacher Robert Poyton 1.-3.9.2017 in Helsinki. Since then we have had four different intensives led by Sifu Markus Kahila (chi kung and pushing hands), Jukka Rajala (spinal motion and floor technique) and Heidi Vierthaler (directions and relations within the body and the space). Markus Kahila will return in the Autumn 2019 to lead a second chi kung intensive.
The members of Kinaestheticians are offered a reduced price for the master teachers’ workshops and free entry in the weekly training sessions after the intensive course. Once a week, for eight Sundays – do join us !
